As busy and crazy as Cabarete became during Semana Santa, we really enjoyed our spring break, no school, morning lie-ins, etc. etc. We had the most perfect weather (before the summer heat hits) and some wind for kiting.  No waves for Jim this week to speak of, but there’s some sign of a swell for Wednesday.  In any case, he has Peru to look forward to in early summer – he’ll head for Chicama and the longest lefts in the world.  At the same time, I will be heading for Miami with the boys and they’ll go to the UK to see their nice Dad for a few weeks.

Whilst I am in Miami, I’ll be shopping for the surf camp we are building.  In actual fact, unlike most women, I do not enjoy shopping.  The ‘shopping gene’ did not enter my body during embryo development  and I find it a chore (example, I never try clothes on in a shop) and sometimes a stress.  I’m trying to organise myself so that I know exactly what we need down to the last fork, which already does my head in, but progress is being made.

Yesterday, we bought a pool table for the camp and I’m looking forward to receiving that when it gets shipped here in a few weeks – we need to get some practise in before our first guests arrive.  We’ll have a ping pong table, darts, a swimming pool, a volley ball court and a load of board games to keep people busy while they are staying with us. They may well need a vacation after their holiday.

Swell Surf Camp, Cabarete – opens November 2009.
