surf camps and new lenses

It’s been another good week in Cabarete and I’ve discovered that I forgot how fun it is to be busy. I sleep so well at night these days and it’s brought about normally by a good kind of exhaustion.

The reaction to the hotel has been extremely rewarding for us. It’s so nice to hear people laughing and having a good time, Jim and I are making new friends each day practically as people come and go. We’ve had to say goodbye to some people who I wish had been able to stay for much longer – so funny and entertaining they’ve been. There appears to be something special about people named Brian particularly – the two we have had staying here have been so much fun to have around. Jim’s new camera lens arrived yesterday and he’s barely been able to put it down since. Shame the rainy start to the day prevented some good surf photography taking place. Now everyone’s off to go wakeboarding

Kiting helps mental health

Not much to say really – save for the fact that having finally got back on to the water today in strong winds, I had a blast. When I am kiting, I think of nothing else but the water and the wind and that feels very very good.

Here’s Geffrey at his happiest yesterday morning;

It has been a bit stormy for the last days; quite a bit of rain, although mostly at night, and hot, sunny days. Today though is pretty horrible, windy and raining from first thing. We will head off the La Sirena in Puerto Plata to do some shopping and that always means a big treat for Jimmy; Burger King!!!

Here are the latest constructions pics of the surf camp; In order, they are 1. looking at rear of pool construction towards front of site/office 2. Construction of the mezzanine floor to the dorm room 3. still building at sunset last evening! 4. Shuttering for the beams which span the first floor ceiling
