We are very happy to report that once again, Luciano Gonzalez, our chief Surf instructor at Swell has won this year’s Master of the Ocean competition, held each year in Cabarete. For the first time, the competition, which combines the 3 disciplines of surf, kitesurf and windsurf, included Stand-up-Paddleboarding (commonly known as SUP). This competition [...]
Jim’s really enjoying his Coreban SUP…… so much better than the crappy Naish SUP boards (another one has broken after just one year). He shot this footage with his Go-Pro camera, this time mounted on the front of the SUP. Julian Kidd is the other rider out with him – another big SUP fan. Click [...]
Cabarete Spinning has a brand new studio, thanks to the new extension at Janet’s supermarket at the East end of town. The last three weeks have been, without doubt, the busiest of my entire life; Great new staff joining us at Swell, getting less than two week’s notice to quit my old spinning studio venue [...]
Here’s a lovely little video that Jim put together of him out on the SUP this week. Conditions were glassy and relatively small waves – but it gives a good indication of how Stand Up Paddle boarding is here in the bay of Cabarete. Stand up Paddleboarding Cabarete Enjoy and then come and join in [...]
Flat, blue, clear water, not a wave in sight today. Days like this in Cabarete take on their own beauty. Swell clients took to the SUP’s and had some fun racing their stand up paddleboards across Bozo, the main bay of Cabarete.
So, Igor began to affect the waves in Cabarete today and guests of Swell enjoyed some nice rides this AM. It will get much bigger (a whole week of whoppers is forecasted courtesy of Igor, CAT 4 Hurricane and following close behind, Julia, also now a CAT 4 Hurricane). We are so very fortunate in [...]

It is smoking hot in Cabarete; summer is not our favorite time here – it’s good for wind and smaller waves for beginner/intermediate surfers, but it is so hot that we start to crave those cooler European daytime and evening temperatures. Surfing Cabarete and it’s various surf breaks, or kite surfing or being out on [...]
Cabarete has so much to offer the watersportmen and women; early birds get up for the surfing or Stand up paddle boarding now growing so fast on the town’s various reefs. Wind kicks in around lunchtime and then the kiteboarders, windsurfers and sailors are happy too. Another nice swell is on it’s way this week [...]
We were very happy to learn that the development previously known as Palmiera, which was shelved for more than a year when the recession hit, is now resigned and re-branded to a new project. Amber Dune, as it is now called, is most likely to be more successful than its predecessor, which some might say [...]
