I sent a mail to one of my mates this morning – he was asking, what r you doing for lunch today. For the first time in 5 years, I had to reply, sorry, but we’re too busy! Blimey, he replied, that’s something you don’t hear very often here.

I think we have had about 7 meetings in the last 3 days in a few different places. It’s all a bit corporate for the Caribbean, but the good news is that we are making progress on all fronts.

We have another meeting in a few minutes re the surf camp and then at 6, I get together with the team of Instructors from Cabarete Spinning to sort out the new timetable of spinning both in Cabarete and at Breezes Hotel in Sosua.

Meanwhile, the foundations were poured for the surf camp yesterday and now the walls are starting to go up. I’ve also been negotiating with people who bought spinning bikes from me in the past to buy them back as we need more and quickly!

That’s all for now ……. will post some construction pics later – check back if you like the look of foundations……..

For four years, my instructors and I have been teaching Spinning classes in Cabarete. We do it, not for the money (‘cos it’s not profitable) but because we LOVE it.

We began it as a hobby and basically, have been subsidizing it for a long time so that we and my dedicated clients could continue to enjoy it. After the sale of my house (where Spinning used to be) Breezes kindly offered me a new venue, the owner concerned that otherwise Cabarete might lose something that was good. Now Breezes have had to take a difficult decision and close their doors for the summer whilst they renovate. I have enjoyed Spinning there, but it was always difficult for many of my members to get there as so many people do not have access to a car here. I thought that good Spinning was over for Cabarete and people would be left with Mi Gym’s poor imitation of what we first introduced to Cabarete.

Now though, I am delighted to say that thanks to the generosity of Georges Coutu (a good property developer in Cabarete) and his fanatical Spinning wife, I have been offered another new venue right in the centre of Cabarete and I am going to take this offer.

Cabarete Spinning will re-open right in the centre of the town shortly so easy access for everyone!

Ciao for now
