So one of the things we love to do is to take photographs. Jim yesterday (as the computer genius that he is) put a Picasa plug in to my Blog so that I can with one click now retrieve a photo from our collection. Even though it has nothing to do with Cabarete, I could not resist putting this photo I took of Jim in Peru last year at Lobitos. Peru is Jim’s second home; with incredible waves and mainly off shore winds, it’s a great place to surf and kite surf. We normally head to Mancora to hang out with the legendary Aussie, Skip……… http://perukitecamp.com. He’s a guy who can fit more ‘f’ words into a sentence than any other person I’ve ever met and make it sound completely acceptable, phrases such as ”Donde fuckin’ esta?” (where are you?). He lived here in Cabarete for about 8 years before ‘finding’ Peru and loving it so much, he went to live there. We miss him being here. The really weird thing is that Jim seems to be gradually turning into Skip (not with the language) but with his rapidly growing mullet and wearing his glasses, which look a lot like Skip’s old ones – hang on, not so old, I think that Skip still wears those, held together with a band-aid. Jim’s glasses are not broken, but he has begun to wear a cap, as Skip always did and I swear that if you are looking at a distance, you could mistake them. Even Calen said it yesterday at Kite Club, ”my god, is it me or does Jim look like Skip right now?” Maybe its subliminal, they were great buddies after all and are still in regular contact. I will get a photo of Jim and put it next to one of skip so you can see what I mean. Anyone who knows them both, feel free to add a comment………..ciao
